E-mail Me This week the TLC's computers were down. Their philosophy, where I am concerned is, the information goes NO WHERE until they post it first. Regarding your political statement, my mama taught me to never discuss religion and politics! :)) <big grin>
I read the article on your web page. I guess it was "sort of" a victory. Here's the quote that bothers me: "At the suggestion of Mr. Busald and the students, Lottery Commission Executive Director Linda Cloud agreed to clarify the issue by changing the language on future scratch tickets to read, "Overall odds of winning any prize, including break-even prizes, are ... " That means; the odds are still wrong, even though we're told how they arrive at them. Winning is winning. Breaking even isn't. Bobby. This is what we asked for. We just want them to tell the Truth. By adding "break even" to the statement is telling the truth. Then it'll say - "odds of winning or breaking even is 4.68% (or whatever it is)" If you want to see the odds of winning each and every prize for many of the tickets, I have that posted on my site now. Click here to see what I'm covering on the scratch offs.
Have you seen the AP release that states Lotto sales are up 16%. I got a real chuckle out of that. Frank Because of FEWER winners, Lotto Texas sales are up. But, all other online games sales are DOWN. To explain why & how Lotto Texas sales are up, here's an example (not real numbers) - At 6/50, sales would start at $4 million, then $4.5 million, then $5 million, then $5.5 million, then $6 million, have a winner, then back to $4 million. At 6/54, it goes like this instead - start at $4 million, then $4.5 million, then $5 million, then $5.5 million, then $6 million, then $6.5 million, then $7 million, then $8 million, then $9 million, then $10 million, then $15 million, still no winner yet, etc. All along, the TLC gets 45% of sales and this increases the sales averages even though sales are not what they should be when considering the jackpot amount. By seeing to it that there are FEWER winners, well, that guarantees that the jackpot amount stays higher which brings in more money per drawing. Thus, they get a raise and the people get robbed. The TLC is issuing these figures to the media now in hopes that Reporters will report that sales are up and they will conclude that the plan must have been accepted. The TLC wants players to think that 6/54 is going great guns so players will just start playing again. It's all a mind game. Please don't fall for it and help me spread the explanation. When you read this in the paper or hear it on the radio or TV, try calling the reporter and suggest that he dig a little deeper. He'll print an explanation if you ask for it! That's what we need! To see exactly what I mean and to easily compare the sales and jackpot figures for past and present, click here. Just compare the estimated jackpots from last year vs today and you'll understand completely.
This message was sent to Linda Cloud with a copy to me. I felt obliged to share it with you. Subject: Let us be a little more honest I just read another article in the Brazosport Facts (our local paper) concerning the "State Lottery" with the TLC as the source of the information. I believe the paper got the article from the Associated Press. In the first paragraph the statement "...out of three years of losses..." and the last paragraph "...had been losing money for the past three years." were published and I insist that these are false statements. A correct statement would be that "The Lottery Made Less Than in the past three years." There is no way that the Lottery has or ever will lose money. I think that using this word in published articles is intentionally misleading and a false representation of the facts. Do you need the kids from San Antonio to meet with you again and correct you or can you do it yourself? Thanks, Bill I couldn't agree more!
CORRECTION: On the second email below about the surveys and petitions, I just realized I used the word "petition" where I should have used the word "survey." If you re-read my answer now, it will make more sense. Sorry, I goofed! You've been having some very interesting reading on your site lately. Thank you for posting all this information for us to ponder. Well, is the Cash5 sales totals dropping too? Is it a one-time thing or what? I was kind of surprised to see the "$68K" payout for a single winning 5/5 ticket in the drawing held Tues., Nov 14. That's about $5,000 -$10,000 LESS THAN USUAL! And since the inception of this game, it has dwindled from over $300,000.00 for a single 5/5 win to a "pittance" of that. What's going on? Are players ticket purchases now dropping for the Cash5's game also? INTERESTING....wonder if anyone else dropped you any emails concerning this phenomenon. Want to say THANKS also for the Chuckle re: your headline. Touche`. Cash 5 sales originally dropped but stabilized when the TLC started playing this game 4 times a week. When the TLC added the 4 balls, I changed my headlines to encourage players to play Cash 5. But, players kept writing me to take that headline down because they thought it was best not to encourage any play - they felt we should quit playing altogether to rebel. So I finally removed it. Judging from those several hundred 'like' comments and the fact that Cash5 sales have dropped even more and drastically so since the 6/54 change, I can only conclude that people are sending the TLC a message and have quit playing all games. Also, there was only one or two $300,000 pots. Most were $200,000 or so back then. The people who run the Lottery don't play these games and so they don't understand how players feel about "not" playing their numbers. So, when they went to 4 times a week, that was too much money for people to spend so many people got mad and quit. For the record, the TLC increased to 4 nights a week because the game was successful and they wanted to make more money. I fought this change too but to no avail. But, back then, I didn't have a web site. Regarding my latest headline, I just couldn't resist the temptation! It seemed appropriate and thanks for your comment. Dear Dawn, I was just re-reading the minutes of the meeting of the TLC commissioners meeting for May 12, 2000." I noticed that they attacked your petitions as not being objective, in that you did not ask people to sign if they were FOR the change. This is strange in that they would take the signatures from G-TECH, but not you. I thought that they should have had an independent auditor do the survey, you know some one totally not associated with the lotto. This would have been fair and right. In fact if they used the G-TECH petitions in their decisions at all, I would think that this would also be against the law. The commissioners have shown me that they are not interested in the lotto player at all, but are instead interested in the lotto vendors. I can sympathize with the store owners. But the truth is, they have MONEY, and they are MAKING MONEY off of the lottery (period). BUT I AM NOT!! .... As ya'll know, the petitions I turned in were mostly gathered by you and retailers - but ours were verifiable whereas the majority of theirs were not. It's ironic isn't it - what happened to the people of Texas regarding our Lotto Texas game is exactly what is happening to Bush today. The will of the people and the laws should prevail but, as we all know, that doesn't always happen - sometimes people pull fast ones to get things their way. For Bush, Gore and the People, I hope the system works fairly this time. Miss Dawn: Yes, I'd be happy to. It will be forth coming. And thank you for your input. I told you I would buy your lotto report whether I need it or not and I have kept my word on that! In the 10/12 issue you really pound them on the numbers.(payouts) I know you understand the gravity of the TLC and their tactics quite well. You see, politically, they think it's their money to coin a phrase in vogue right now. You know, you're in a very unique position in that you advise people what a bad deal the lottery is yet if they don't play your lotto report is useless. I admire your work ethic and determination to try and get both the game and the payoffs distributed in a more equitable manner. However, if this game were not run by the state, it would be shut down by them as to use your words a "scam". The sad part is that the players are no better. I remember some years ago, that an entrepenteur was buying the annuities and giving far more than any state would. A very good business to be in if you have capital! .... Thank you for sharing your thoughts - it's nice that ya'll realize what I'm really trying to accomplish - and yes, this could hurt my sales but the TLC did a much better job of that than I did because they angered the players so players quit playing all the games. That's why lottery sales are down - for me, the TLC and the retailers. Their "solution" will definitely help them in the long run but not the retailers or me. We're still hurting and will continue to hurt. This is what drives me. Greetings Dawn! Thank you for your e-mail on the TLC. Sorry to hear about the low turn out Saturday. This is to be expected when you ask the public for support. I've seen this before when you ask for help to investigate the way Governments and their departments misbehave. Please don't give up, we are behind you 100 %. You will be rewarded for all your effort. They are running scared and are afraid of what we all know, how they try to keep us from knowing the truth is a big "joke." I bought Texas lotto tickets when they first started and stopped over a year ago because of how they ran the lottery. Too many quick picks as winners. (This is a trend in other state lottery's jackpots). When ever there is a large sum of money involved by gambling, honesty drops to a low level. Your name "GET REAL" should be" GREED by OUR LOTTO HEADQUARTERS TO SUCK MORE MONEY FROM THEIR PLAYER'S. If you want to see how the public got "screwed" in their state lottery, check the "Louisiana lottery" and how the state sucks the "Casino's" of their profits. All the best to you in all your hard work! If you come to Shreveport to the casino's, let us know and we will be happy to show you around. Your friend ... Thank you very much. And don't worry, I won't quit either. Not until something is done or someone else takes over! I just came across your site. I think it's great. Our local lotto shop that I use is called "name deleted." They struggle just to stay open. The owner has tried to defend - OUR RIGHTS - and the rights of the retailers but as you know got shot down by the commission. I forwarded your release to our local newspaper (and cc'ed you) I hope you don't mind. Please sign me up for GET REAL. This is the message he wrote to his paper: "As much and as hard as our local "I deleted the Retailer Name" has fought to keep the lotto honest, the least our local paper can do is run the attached article. All we want is the truth." Thank you very much. If everyone would notify their newspaper, the papers would respond and then the people would know about all this. Let me know if your paper responds - OK?
